Well no, technically this isn't an eye candy item. It is a bald faced hornet next in my holly tree. More specifically, it is no longer in my holly tree. It is a little bigger than a basketball and about the coolest thing I've ever seen. The opening is about the size of a half dollar. The hornets were huge, and if my research hadn't said that they will sting repeatedly because of the smooth stinger and the poison keeps flowing, then I would have probably let it go until winter when nature killed them off. As it is, this was eye level to me, and I've got to be outside taking care of the yard. It is not on the tree stump my exterminator said that a lot of people varnish these and then hang them up to use as a bird feeder, or bird house or just for decoration. But to be sure NOT to take it inside, as the heat in the winder will make any larva still in there hatch, and yeah, no. I'm not interested in them actually living IN my house.
